GalShinhorn
A site for Gal Shinhorn, a production designer with more than 20 years of sets for TV, stages and exhibitions. 20 projects, 110 photos and videos, Hebrew and English, and a content system I built just for him so he can update everything himself.

01The challenge
Gal designed the "Survivor" finale, "What Is Possible with Guri Alfi", the Sapir Prize stage and dozens of other sets, stages and exhibitions. The site had to show that work at full size without competing with it.
There were three requirements: the work has to look as big as it really is, the site has to work in Hebrew and English for producers in Israel and abroad, and Gal has to be able to add a project on his own, without waiting for a developer.
02The approach
- 01
Dark background, color only from the photos
Dark charcoal, warm stone tones, almost square corners and no color that competes. Like a dark studio just before the lights come on: all the color on the site comes from the sets themselves.
What I didn’t doA colorful "creative" template that draws attention to itself.
- 02
Gal’s signature on the opening screen
On the opening screen Gal’s signature writes itself in two seconds, next to his photo. It makes clear the studio is one person, not a company.
What I didn’t doA heavy intro video or a loading screen.
- 03
Hebrew and English in one site
The site opens in Hebrew, right to left, and one click flips the whole interface to English and left to right. When Gal writes a new project in Hebrew, the English translation is created automatically.
What I didn’t doTwo separate sites to maintain twice.
- 04
A content system of his own
A content system built just for him: add and edit projects, upload galleries, drag to reorder images, choose what appears on the homepage, a blog and visitor stats.
What I didn’t doWordPress with dozens of plugins.

- The signature is a single SVG line that writes itself in two seconds. It’s hidden on mobile, and anyone who asked for less motion sees it already drawn.
- Filtering the work is animated, so cards slide into place instead of jumping.
- An accessibility panel with 10 settings: text size, high contrast, inverted colors, line and letter spacing, link highlighting, pausing animations and more. Settings are remembered for the next visit.
- Light and dark modes, and huge transparent words behind the opening that add depth without competing with the photo.
- Built-in visitor stats, without Google Analytics.
05The result
Today the site holds 20 projects and 110 media files in two languages, all added through the content system without touching code.

Nadav took twenty years of sets, stages and exhibitions and turned them into a site that looks exactly like the work itself, in Hebrew and in English.
